Marriage Notes: Parrott-Day Wedding Held In Nashville NASHVILLE \'97 Miss Wilma Parrott, daughter of Mrs. Nettie Parrott, and Eldon Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Day, were married at 8 o'clock Saturday evening in the home of the bride's mother. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Wendell C. Bassett in the presence of 40 guests.
The ceremony was conducted before a setting of ferns and spring flowers. Albert Parrott gave his sister in marriage.
The bride wore a gown of white net lace with a fingertip veil caught with orange blossoms. She carried an arm bouquet of calla lilies, snap dragons and sweetpeas. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. Wallace Graham, who wore a gown of peach sheer silk trimmed with aqua blue. Mrs. Graham carried a boquet of spring flowers.
A reception followed the ceremony. Mrs. Della Bowman, Mrs. Maude Ackett and the Misses Elinore Gardner and Carrie Cogswell served. The bride and groom are graduates of Nashville high school. They will reside on a farm near Barryville.

Eldon and Wilma Day NASHVILLE \'97 Eldon and Wilma Day of 403 N. Main St. will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Nashville United Methodist Church.
Hosting the celebration will be their children, Douglas and Karen Day of Newaygo and Marvin and Judy Laurie of Nashville. The couple have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Day and the former Wilma Parrott were married June 1, 1940, at the home of the bride's mother in Nashville. The couple have lived at their present address 25 years.
He farmed for four years and later worked at the old Oliver Equipment Co. and Eaton Manu-facturing Corp. until 1958. Later, he worked at Allerding and Furrow Builders and Backe Construction, both in Hastings, until retir-ing in 1979.
She worked at the office of Dr. Thomas W. Myers of Nashville for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He has served with the Nash-ville Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. The couple are both members of Nashville United Methodist Church.

Parrott, 79, of 74 Woodward Ave., for many years one of the foremost land developers and builders in the Battle Creek area, died this mornng in the Springhill Extended Care Facility. He had been in ill health the past three years and a patient at Springhill since Monday.
Beginning in 1916, when he built seven homes on Caine Street, Mr. Parrott developed approximately 2,000 acres of land in and near the City of Battle Creek and built hundreds of homes.
Many of his suburban developments were on farm property which he purchased through the years. Among the larger of such properties were the 340-acre Morgan farm at Morgan Corners, south of the city, the 235-acre Pugh farm, which became Pioneer Acres No. 2, and 450 acres in the Wattles Road E. Michigan Avenue area, which now includes Velma Gardens and Sunset Acres developments, as well as Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Parrott remained fairly active in developing and building until approximately six years ago. He and his wife, for many years, spent the winters at their home in Elleton, Fla.
Mr. Parrott was born in Johnston Township, Barry County, a son of George R. and Fannie (Butler) Parrott, a descendant of Justice Butler, a pioneer who settled in the Lacey area in 1847.
Although Mr. Parrott had gained considerable building experience before coming to Battle Creek in the early 20s, he established and operated a grocery business for approximately four years before he began building homes. From 1934 to 1940, he owned and operated a hardware business in the Lakeview area.
Mr. Parrott was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nellie Camp; a son, Duane S. Parrott of St. Louis, Mich.; a daughter, Velma L., wife of the Rev. Oliver Francisco of Keene, N.H.; a brother, Floyd Parrott of Bedford Township; sisters, Mrs. Hazel Letts of Battle Creek Township and Mrs. Cecil Lester of Lincoln Park; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Farley Funeral Home.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was dressed in a white slipper satin gown, cut in princess lines with long sleeves and a princess neckline. She wore a fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of white daisies.
Miss Olive Frantz of Naperville and Miss Ruth Baumgartner of Monroe, Wis, were the bridesmaids Miss Frantz wore a pale green marquisette dress with matching blush veil and carried yellow daisies. Miss Baumgartner wore pale peach made in the same style, and carried a bouquet of carnations and blue larkspur.
Donald Francisco of Saline attended his brother as best man. Seating the 175 guests were Duane Parrott, brother of the bride, and James Bryant.
Miss Donna Davis of Caledonia sang "Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms" and "Still Is the Night" Mrs. Charles Van Dorn was the pianist.
A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Parrott received her guests in a pale aqua crepe dress with navy accessories and corsage of yellow roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy and white dress and corsage of gardenias.
The young couple are spending their honeymoon at a cottage on Portage lake. The bride changed to a brown gabardine suit with yellow and brown accessories for traveling They will make their home with the bride's parents for the summer. and after September will reside at McGiffer hall in New York City. They will both attend the Union Theological seminary there.
Mrs. Francisco is a graduate of Lakeview high school, and received her bachelor of arts degree at North Central college. She also took graduate work at the University of Chicago, and for the last year has been teaching religious education in the Naperville and Downers Grove, Ill, schools. She is a member of Beta Beta Beta, Pi Kappa Delta and Alpha Psi Omega.
Mr. Francisco is a graduate of a Grand Rapids high school, and Western Michigan college, and the Evangelical Theological seminary at Naperville. For the last two years he has been organist and choir director at the seminary, and for the last year he has served as organist of the Logan Square Evangelicai church of Chicago. He has taken graduate work at Boston university.

She was a proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. .Notes: .Merna Ann Parrott Wright was born Nov. 30, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Parrott. She married Raymond Wright on July 24, 1980, in North Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed in the St. George Temple on May 22, 1993. Merna and Ray met on a blind date set up by one of Merna's cousins. After a several-month courtship, Ray proposed on the canal bridge close to the location of their current house.
When it came time to build their house, Ray remembered he had a dishwasher on hand and Merna designed the house plan around the dishwasher. Merna is famous for her energy, organization, and for always being willing and ready to take charge of every situation. With boundless energy she enjoyed crafts, puzzles, and cross stitch. She and Ray helped start an ATV riding club in Southern Utah and have been great citizens of Hurricane for many years.
Merna and Ray owned an upholstery shop. She sold Avon, did accounting work, and was a bank teller She also enjoyed fishing, camping, doing genealogy and spending time with grandchildren, going to zoos, riding trains and going on trips together.
Merna served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Ray taught the 3-year-old Sunbeams in Primary and Merna spent 15 years as the compassionate service leader in Relief Society helping to plan and serve many, many funeral meals.
Merna is survived by her husband Raymond of Hurricane and daughters Carol Dever of Hurricane and Kathy Caroll of Michiga,n and Raymond's four children he added to their family; Camile Wright, Las Vegas; Robert Wright, Las Vegas,; Christine Meger, Las Vegas; Sully (Diane) Wright, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at the Hurricane LDS Stake Center located at 675 South 700 West Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will take place on Monday, July 15, from 1-1:45 p.m. at the same location. Interment to follow services at the Hurricane City Cemetery.

He received a 32 degree Mason in Paris, France. He was also a 54-year member of First United Methodist Church where he attended faithfully. He spent over 50 years in Scouting and was active in getting the work on Falling Waters Bike Trail started in 1992. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jackson, Michigan, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her involvement in the church community brought her a sense of belonging and purpose.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Parrott, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Parrott, granddaughter, Shannon Parrott, grandson, Eric Parrott, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley Funeral Home for Charles W. Parott, 58, of Williamston, formerly of Battle Crreek. He died Saturday in Community Hospital, Big Rapids, after suffering a heart attack. Born in Battle Creek, he was a dairy farmer on Stone Creek Township until 1972, when he purchased another farm in Williamston.
He was honored in 1970 for farm operation by the Michigan Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Association, of which he was a member. He also was a member and past treasurer and president of the Calhoun County Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was a board member of the Lansing local of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and a member of the Professional Dairymen's Assocation and the Michigan Farm Bureau. He attended teh Seventhday Baptist Church, Battle Creek.
Surviving are his widow, the former Dorothy J. Davis; son Charles W. Jr. of Olivet; daughters, Mr. Leon L.. (Jeanette) Noel of 5198 W Drive N., Mrs. Robert C. (Barbara J.) When stricken, Mr. Parrott was about to enter his car to drive to the Oliver Corp. plant where he was chief guard of the plant protection force. He had been hospitalized for two weeks, but had returned to work yesterday.
Memberships Listed Mr. Parrott was also a member of the Calhoun Fire Fighters Association, a director of the Pennfield Rescue Squad, and the Metropolitan Club and the Oliver Management Club. He held memberships in the Convis Union Methodist Church and the Convis Men's Club. He was a frequent public speaker in safety.
He was born in Battle Creek, Sept. 8, 1919, a son of Sherlie and Maud (Seaman) Parrott, now of 76 Dunning Ave. adn was married here Jan. 14, 1940. His wife, the former Laura Fenn, survives.

Mr. Parrott was employed by the Easton Mfg. Co. from 1938 until 1943. He then went on a farm, but returned to the Eaton plant as a forman in 1950. He had been with the Oliver Corp. since 1958.

She was born in Battle Creek on April 27, 1921, to Warren A. and Elizabeth T. (Huggett) Fenn. Laura was a 1938 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and attended Michigan State University. In 1965, she graduated from Western Michigan University. She began working in the offices for Pennfield Schools in 1959 and later taught in the Pennfield Elementary Schools for 20 years, until retiring in 1984. After her retirement, she read to the children at Purdy Elementary until last year.
Laura married Lloyd R. Parrott January 14, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd on April 25, 1961; and by an infant grandson, Joseph Lloyd Parrott.
Laura was married to Norman C. Leeser on February 21, 1970. Surviving are her husband, Norman; children, Warren (Donna) Parrott of Dunnville, KY, Susan (Erwin) O'Dell of Marshall, Jane (Richard) Zischke of Livonia, Steven (Brenda) Leeser of Hudsonville, Daniel (Patricia) Parrott of Battle Creek, Jackie (David) Baker of Dowagiac, Terry (Peg) Leeser of Franklin, Tina (Gary) Gruner of Madras, OR; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Louise Blades and Elizabeth (Francis) Hiscock both of Pentwater and Sally Bosserd of Marshall.

Mr. Parrott was born June 5, 1925, in Battle Creek to Charles and Nella (Camp) Parrott. He had been a resident of St. Louis for the last 30 years and was owner of Northern Trust Corp.

Mr. Parrott served in U.S. Army during World War II. He married the former Vivian (Wilkins) Swank on May 7, 1960, in Ur-bandale Baptist Church. She survives.

Marriage Notes: Marriage Takes Place In Virginia EVERGREENS, white candles and white flowers from the woods decorated the Vauter's Episcopal church in Essex county, Va., Friday afternoon for the wedding of Miss Katherine Saunders Noble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Willard Noble of Caret, Essex county, and Duane Stanley Parrott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Parrott of the Brook on US-12 near Augusta.
The traditional wedding marches were played by Mrs. James Rice as the bridal party took its place at the altar and left the church. Two hundred guests witnessed the single ring ceremony, which was performed at 4 o'clock by the Rev. Herbert S. Osborn, a retired clergyman.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown. It was fashioned with sweetheart neckline, long pointed sleeves and tight shirred bodice. Her veil was fastened to a tiara of seed pearls and she carried white roses and gardenias. Her sister, Miss Brownie Elizabeth Noble, served as maid of honor, wearing a gown of yellow net over taffeta. It was styled with off-shoulder sleeves and ruffled cape. Miss Susan Coleman Noble, another sister, was bridesmaid, wearing aqua taffeta made with sweetheart neckline and bracelet-length sleeves.
Mrs. Noble, mother of the bride, wore a rose street dress with corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Parrott, mother of the bridegroom, chose a blue net dress. Her corsage was pink roses.
A reception for 50 members of the families of the young couple was given at the home of the bride's parents. The decorations for this event were evergreens and white flowers.
The bride, who is a teacher, is a graduate of St. Margaret's school at Tappahannock, Va., and attended Mary Washington college of the University of Virginia. The bridegroom attended Kalamazoo college. He is a dealer in real estate. Mr. and Mrs. Parrott are spending their honeymoon on a motor trip through the Blue Ridge mountains. Her traveling costume is a green linen suit with navy blue accessories. They will be at home after Tuesday at The Brook.

He was born on February 11, 1949, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Bruce and Marcella Mae (Klein) Parrott. John served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was married to Barbara L. Almy on September 11, 1993, in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She survives him. Prior to his retirement, John served as Fire Chief for the Buena Vista Fire Department. His life in fire service began at birth as his father was in the fire service as well. John had worked in the Michigan communities of Kentwood, Three Rivers, Egleston, Cascade Township, and Rochester Hills. He was on numerous boards within the Fire Chiefs Associations. He was an instructor in fire service for Delta College, as well as the University of Michigan. He had many articles published in several fire prevention magazines. He also loved teaching and working with Mobile Medical Response after his fire department days were done. One of his later passions was working with many dog rescue groups in Michigan. He loved his fur babies. John also had a passion for amateur radio and was known to many as W8JP
Surviving besides his wife, Barb, are their children, Krystin (Kevin) Rowley, of Melbourne, FL, Amanda Himmelspach and Berry (Jim Showalter), of Waterford, MI, Jocinda (Brian) Hirt, of Lake Orion, MI; grandchildren, Emma, Berry, Quinn, Kasey, and Elliott Hirt, and Meghan, Jenna, Kenneth, Clare, Allison, Jack, and Fulton Rowley.

Mark Butler Parrott, 76, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away August 30, 2025, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Parrott; three daughters, Susan (Adam) Pugh, Elizabeth (Gregory) Fogel, and Michelle Parrott; his two brothers, Charles Parrott and Duane Parrott, Jr. He was a playful "Pop Pop" to his six surviving grandchildren: Katherine, Adam, and Chase Pugh, Elena, Bennett, and Ari Fogel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine, with whom he was very close, and his father, Duane.
Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, Mark developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors in the woods and waters around him. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in civil engineering and spent his career working as a licensed professional engineer in Richmond, Virginia. His work on public and private projects can still be seen today throughout the city.
He met his wife, Deborah, while living in Richmond, and the two knew within three months that they wanted to be together forever. The couple's wedding was held on April 16, 1977, and they truly cherished each day of their 48-year marriage. Mark and Deborah built a loving home in Mechanicsville, Virginia for their three girls full of laughter, music, family events, and Mark's legendary stories. Mark was a dedicated father who encouraged a strong work ethic in his girls and was proud of their many accomplishments. The family delighted in raising many pets over the years, with Mark holding a special place in his heart for two of their golden retrievers, Sandy and Buddy.
The family will bury their beloved Mark at a private ceremony with a celebration of life to follow at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in celebration of Mark's life to the American Cancer Society.
