    Deceased, Was Seriously Sick Two Weeks. Suffering From Affection of Heart

    Mrs. Jane Parrott, widow of Charles Parrott, died Friday at her home on Park street, after an illness of many years. She had been seriously sick for two weeks, suffering from an affection of the heart. Mrs. Parrott was born in Winchester, England, and came with her husband to this country about 45 years ago, making her home in Newport practically all that time. She had a wide circle of friends in Newport, and although confined to the house many years, retained her friendships and was cheerful to the last. Her husband, who was a well known tailor, died four years ago, and she is survived by five children-Arthur and Alfred Parrott, Misses Mary and Ellen Parrott and Mrs. William C. Barker-and two grandchildren, William C. Barker, Jr., and George R. Parrott, the last named of Whitman, Mass. Another son, Charles Parrott Jr., died two years ago. Mrs. Parrott was a member of St. George's Church.

    Services for Alfred Parrott of 16 Park St., retired gardner (sic), were held at the Murphy Funeral Home this afternoon. The Rev. Dr. Robert H. Mercer, rector of St. George's Church, officiated. Burial was in Island Cemetery wehre Weenat Shassit Tribe of Red Men of which Mr. Parrott was a member for many years, conducted its ritual. The bearers were from Red Men.

    Mr. Parrott died in a Providence nursing home Saturday after a short illness. For many years he was a gardener for the late Mrs. Alfred J. Miller of Rhode Island Avenue. He was born in Newport, a son of the late Charles and Jane Thompson Parrott. He leaves a sister, Miss Ellen L. Parrott of Park Street, and two nephews, George Russelll Parrott of Whitman, Mass., and William C. Barker of Encino, Calif.

    Miss Mary Jane Parrott, daughter of the late Charles and Jane Parrott, died Tuesday evening at the Newport Hospital, where she had been several weeks. Her father died four years ago, a brother, two years and her mother last November. She is survived by two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Parrott, two sisters Mrs. William C. Barker and Miss Ellen Parrott, and two nephews, William C. Barker of this city and George Parrott of Whitman, Mass. Miss Parrott was of a cheerful and gental (sic) disposition and had many friends in the community.

    Gardener Had Been Ill About Year; Funeral Will Be Saturday

    Arthur Parrott, of 16 West Main road, Middletown, died at Newport Hospital Thursday A.M. He had been in failing health during the last year.

    A native of this city, son of the late Jane Charles and Thompson Parrott, he was educated in the local schools and became a gardner on summer estates. He was employed for many years by Mrs. Iselin Gilbert at "Four Acres" on Ochra Point and was recognized as an expert in rose culture, his rose gardens being classified among the finest in the East. He had been awarded Horticultural Society certificates for rose culture. During the war when the Gilbert estate was closed, he was employed at the Naval Torpedo Station.

    Beside his wife, Mrs. Jennie G. Ferris Parrott, he leaves a brother, Alfred Parrott, as sister, Miss Ellen Parrott, and two nephews, George Russell Parrott of Whitman, Mass., and William C. Barker, Jr. of this city.

    Services will be held at the Hambly Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2:30, with the Rev. Harvey K. Mousley, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Church, fo which Mr. Parrott was a member, officiating.

    Charles Parrott Jr., died Saturday at his home on Park street, after an illness of a year, having been confined to bed during the past week. He was born in Newport, a son of Jane and the late Charles Parrott, and had been employed for several years, as an electric plater at the Torpedo Station. A member of Excelsior Lodge of Odd Fellows, Weenst Shassill Tribe of Red Men and Newport Lodge of Elks, he had a wide circle of friends throughout the city. He was well known as a successful amateur florist specialing in the growing of dahlias, for which he had received many prizes.

    His father, who was a well known tailor, died a few years ago, and the deceased is survived by his mother, three sisters, Miss Mary and Ellen Parrott and Mrs. William C. Barker; two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Parrott, and two nephews, William C. Barker and George Russell Parrott of Whitman, Mass.

    Mrs. Edith Parrott Barker, wife of William C. Barker, former patrolman, died last Friday following a long illness at her home on the Boulevard in Middletown. Born in Newport, daughter of the late Charles and Jane Parrott, she was a parishioner of St. George's Church and a member of the Esther Rebekah Lodge of Odd Fellows in which she held various offices.

    Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Technical Sergeant Wilan C. Barker, Jr., now stationed at Fort Wetherill; one sister, Miss Ellen Parrott; two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Parrott; and a nephew, Russell Parrott of Whitman, Mass.

    Marriage Notes: A very unpretentious wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Smith on Main street last Saturday evening when William C. Barker and Miss Edith Parrot, both of Newport, R.I., were united in matrimony by the Rev. Stephen G. Palmer. The ceremony was performed in the presence of only a few intimate friends, after which Mr. and Mrs. Barker took their departure for their wedding trip and will later take up their residence in Newport, where Mr. Barker is a police officer.
