The family patriarch, Nathaniel Perrott, arrived in Canada ca 1850 and settled in Dalhousie, Restigouche Co., New Brunswick, Canada. One of his sons, Robert S., and started a famiy line with the surname Parrott, while the rest retained Perrott. He moved to Stiles in Oconto county Wisconsin, ca 1880. Today, descendants are in Green Bay. Robert's sister, Rebecca, moved to Massachusetts. His other siblings stayed in New Brunswick and today have no known male descendants.

This is one of 3 known P-rr-tt families that originated in Cork, Ireland, and migrated to the Americas. The other two are the descendants of Richard Parrott who settled in New York and John Parrott who also settled in New Brunswick. Without YDNA testing, it is not possible to know if these three families are part of a larger P-rr-tt famiy in Cork.

    AGONY OF HIS LAST MOMENTS
    --
He was 45 Years old and a Member of the Modern Woodmen.
    ---

Chas. Peters, the man who took poison by mistake, died Wednesday after several days of suffering. Wednesday his condition seemed much improved but the indications were wrong. He had grown much weaker and was unable to stand the terrible strain.

Mr. Peters was first taken sick last week Thursday night when he began to vomit, evidently just after eating his supper. He was unable to use his stomach since that. He says that he took what he thought was a seidlitz powder. It was wrapped up in a single paper and from this it is evident that it was not what he supposed it was. He secured the powder up stairs, he said.

The case was a mysterious one and as the physicians did not know the nature of the poison they were unable to prescribe an antidote. Dr. Colter was called and later Dr. Jones was brought in for consultation, but they could do nothing.

Mr. Peter's last hours were ones of terrible agony and he rolled in pain continually on his bed. The nature of the poison he toook is not known. He was a man about 45 years of age and is survived by his wife, one child and three step children. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen and that society will have charge of the funeral.

Barbara Jean Parrott, daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Parrott, was born January 11, 1950 in Madison, WI. She grew up there and graduated from Madison West High School. She then attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Barbara worked in the banking business in Madison for a few years, as well as California, then returning to Madison. She found her professional position in the restaurant business. Barbara worked her way up with Chi-Chi's, leaving Madison to be general manager of a location in Houston-Baybrook, TX. She then moved to Minnetonka, MN to run the Chi-Chi's there. She also became a corporate trainer. She said she loved her work and found "her love" at Chi-Chi's, that being Senior Vice-President and her future husband, Charlie Kono.

Barb worked for Charlie in many capacities in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The couple, being die-hard Packer fans, attended many games in various cities. "Go Pack Go!"

The couple first lived in Wayzata, MN, then Dallas, TX, Sioux Falls, SD, Carmel, IN, Milford, MI and Cross Plains, WI before retiring in Fairhope, AL.

Barb had a gentle spirit and a life of the party attitude, wit and beautiful smile. She made many friends and few foes. Barb and Charlie traveled a lot, enjoying fine dining, casino getaways and concerts.

Barb loved animals her entire life, especially dogs. The last 20 years were blessed with German Shepherds Sonny, Jaz and Katrina (thanks to Kaylee Kono, Trina's step-mom). Barb could also be found hand feeding racoons on the deck of their Michigan wooded acreage, ducks at the lake home in Carmel, IN or prairie dogs in the Badlands!

Barb was also a proud descendant of the Indian Queen, Marinette, who the Wisconsin city is named after.

Barb loved the phrase "When you're going through hell, keep going!" So it was with her tragic journey with vascular dementia and Alzheimers.

Barb is survived by her husband, Charlie Kono, of Fairhope, AL and Sioux Falls, SD; her step-son, Charles R. Kono, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Lori (Bruce) Hanson and brother-in-law, Gary (Jo Ann) Kono, all of Sioux Falls, SD. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews she was fond of since their youth, Jason (Becky) Kono, Ashley (Richard) Sorenson, Kristin Kono, Chelsea (Justin) Stensland and Nick Hanson. A special thanks to Lori and Ashley for going over and above with help during her health battle. She also leaves behind too many others to list, but many Wisconsin connections including Bix and Ruth, Marsha, Cindi, Tort, Deb and special friend, Pat.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Betty and a brother, Michael.

Please consider a donation in memory of Barbara to your local Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Association.

General Notes: Two daughters lost a wonderful father and the community an extraordinary dancer with the death of Alden "Aulie" W. Perrott on March 3, 2009, at the age of 92 -- or as he would say, "pushing 93."

Aulie was born November 12, 1916, in the small community of Eel River Crossing, New Brunswick, Canada, to Nathaniel Perrott and Margaret Taylor.

His father died in the pandemic of 1918 and his mother in childbirth in 1924. He was raised by his older sisters, Mildred and Florine, and preceded in death by all of his siblings: Mildred, Florine, Clarrisa (Chrissy), Harold and Wellington.

Aulie had a zest for life, which began in Eel River Crossing playing hockey on the frozen river behind his home, swimming in the summer and dancing wherever and whenever he had the chance.

He told stories of practicing "moves" in the parking lot of a car dealership to the music of the car radios.

After leaving the family farm, Aulie served in the police detachment of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940-1944. He was stationed in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, after completing basic training in Quebec City, Quebec.

His assignment during World War II was to escort British pilots by train across Canada for combat flight training.

At one point, he was dispatched to Ketchikan, Alaska, when it was thought that the Japanese would invade from the north. It was during this assignment that he met Mary Patricia Richard at a USO dance.

They were married in 1945, her father offered Aulie a job at the family hardware store in Chewelah, Washington and they settled there until 1949.

Shortly after moving to Spokane, Washington, he became a U.S. citizen and they raised their family, Margaret (Peggy) and Patricia (Trish).

He worked as a salesman for Polson Implement Co., Country Homes Building Supply and Staley Hardware during his career years.

In 2001, he moved to Port Angeles and lived with younger daughter, Trish Holden. He assisted in building her log home and spruced up the place with his gift for landscaping.

He subsequently moved into an apartment of his own and became a familiar and loved member of the local dance community.

He danced several nights a week to big band and jazz sounds at the Senior Center, Eagles and 7 Cedars Casino.

He did the daily newspaper scrambled word Jumble to keep his "gray matter" sharp, and was a skilled carpenter, inventor and gardener, rarely idle physically and never idle mentally.

In the months preceding his death, he lived with daughter Margaret Carr, assisting her with home improvements including gardening and using his shop to fulfill project requests.

Margaret and Trish, with the support of their partners, Oopie and Kevin, were able to honor his wish to die at home. He was also supported by the Volunteer Hospice family and other devoted caretakers.

His family thanks Rose, Linda, Paula, Kathy, Bette and Gayla, whose support and compassion were gifts beyond measure.

Remembrances are requested to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
