    Death of I. S. Parrott

    I.S. Parrott, a former resident of Harrisonville, in Nevada, Mo., Sunday morning, death being due to neuralgia of the stomach. Mr. Parrott was nearly eighty years of age and was known in this city where he and his family resided for a number of years. He had not made this place his home for about 15 years.

    The remains, accompanied by the four sons, Hardy, Thomas, Hugh, and Clarence, were brought to this city Tuesday afternoon and interred in the Orient Cemetery. The funeral services were held at Nevada, but for the benefit of the friends in this city short services were conducted at the grave by Rev. A. H. Deane.

    Mr. Parrott was a brother in-law of the late Uncle Matt Sharp.

    Irvin married Mahala J. Williams. Mahala was born in 1833 in Morgan Co., Missouir.

    + 2 M    i. William Ellison Parrott was born on 13 May 1857 in Morgan Co., Missouri and died on 23 Jan 1935 in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado at age 77.

       3 M    ii. James M. Parrott was born in 1859 in Missouri.

    Irvin next married Hannah C. Hardy on 1 Dec 1867 in Cass Co., Missouri. Hannah was born on 10 Apr 1846 in Virginia and died on 31 Jan 1917 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri at age 70.

    Drunk While His Mother Died

    The Kansas City newspapers on Wednesday of last week contained the following mention of Hugh Parrott, a former resident of Harrisonville, who has been living in Kansas City for a number of years:

    "Mrs. Hannah C. Parrott, 69 years old, was lying at the point of death Tuesday January 30, at the home of her son, Hugh Parrott, 3123 Holmes Street. Hugh, about 45 years old, went home drunk, and cursing and threatening, ran his two brothers out of the house, according to testimony of the police in the South Side Municipal Court Wednesday.

    "Parrott was arrested on the family's complaint, fined $100 and sent to the municipal farm. The mother died Wednesday morning. The brothers, and a sister, according to the police, asked that Hugh not be released for the funeral."

    William married Martha Orlena Marshall on 3 Jul 1881 in Newton Co., Missouri. Martha was born on 23 Nov 1856 in Newton Co., Missouri and died on 1 May 1931 in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado at age 74.

    Death of John Hardy Parrott

    The news came to this city the first of the week of the death of John Hardy Parrott at his home, 626 Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri, Saturday, June 22nd. His death comes after an illness of six years from tuberculosis, during which he spent much of the time in the hospital, where everything was done for him that could be done. He himself realized the seriousness of his condition at all times, and toward the last knew that the end was near. In spite of it all, he was patient and maintained his cheerfulness of disposition.

    The funeral was held at the deceased's home in Kansas City Monday, the services being conducted by Elder Nutter of the Adventist church. The burial was made at Forest Hill cemetary in Kansas City.

    The deceased was 43 years of age and was the eldest son of irvin S. and Hannah C. Parrott. He was born in this city August 23, 1868, and resided here for a number of years. At the age of 29 he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Buzan at Creighton, and she with two daughters -- Vesta, aged 13 years, and Esther, aged 11 years, are left to mourn his death. He is survived by his mother and three brothers.

    "Hardy" Parrott, as he was known to the community, left left this city years ago to make his home in Kansas City.



    John married Carrie I. Buzan. Carrie was born on 10 Jun 1879 in Missouri and died on 17 Aug 1956 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri at age 77.

    5. Jahu "Hugh" Granville Parrott (Irvin S.1) was born in 1869 in Grand River, Cass Co., Missouri and died in 1928 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri at age 59. Another name for Jahu was Jehu G. Parrott.

    Jahu married Maude B. Hoke. Maude was born in 1887 in Missouri.

    General Notes: Newton Ervin Parrott, 76, Olathe, Kan., passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.

    Newton was born May 21, 1931, in Denver, Colo., to Ervin L. and Virginia (Anderson) Parrott. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran from 1950-54 serving in the Korean War. He participated in the Inchon landing and the Chosin Reservoir. One of his fondest memories was when he coached little league baseball at the Johnson County 3&2 ballpark. He loved sports and followed the Chiefs, Royals and Kansas Jayhawks.

    He was preceded in death by two infant sons, John and Ervin Parrott. Newton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Grika) Parrott, and four children, Michael, Tracy, Kacey and Christopher Parrott. He is also survived by four lovely grandchildren, Kayla, Mason, Tristan and Kaylee Parrott. Dad always put his family ahead of himself and will be dearly missed.     Newton married Evelyn Grika on 18 Feb 1955. Evelyn was born on 24 Mar 1934 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri and died on 29 Nov 2014 in Kansas at age 80.

    General Notes: Evelyn G. Parrott, 83, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014.

    Evelyn was born March 24, 1931 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of John G. and Nellie (Edwards) Grika. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1949. Her classmate in theater class was actor Edward Asner. Evelyn married Newton E. Parrott on February 18, 1955. They resided in Shawnee, Kansas for 47 years, moving to Olathe, Kansas in 2007. She worked for Railway Express and Continental Can Company.

    Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Newton E. Parrott, two sisters, Dorothy Epps and Louise McClane, and two sons, John Edward Parrott and Ervin Lee Parrott.

    Mom's greatest love was her family. She just celebrated a fantastic Thanksgiving with her family and friends. She looked forward to Thanksgiving for months and was so happy to see everyone.

    Evelyn is survived by her children, Michael Parrott, Tracy Parrott, Kacey Parrott, and Christopher Parrott; her brother, John Grika and sister, Joann Brown; grandchildren, Kayla Parrott, Mason Parrott, Tristan Parrott and Kaylee Parrott; and many nieces and nephews. Her loving heart and caring way will be forever missed.

    Funeral Service and Visitation

    Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 12-1 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
