    General Notes: NEW HARTFORD - James Louis Parrott, 74, of Church Street, Pine Meadow, died Sunday at Litchfield County Hospital, Winsted, after a long illness.

    He was a former New Hartford resident state trooper and served as town assessor for 8 years.

    He joined the State Police in 1925 and served with them for 29 years until his retirement in 1954. During the last two years of his service he served as resident state trooper here. Prior to joining the State Police he was employed as a conductor for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. He was an honary member of the Pine Meadow Fire Department.

    He leaves his wife, Mrs. Jessie Cain Parrott, of Pine Meadow; three sons, James Parrott Jr., Robert Parrott and Louis Parrott, of of New Hartford; seven daughters, Mrs. Edna Bednascyk of West Hartford, Mrs. Gerald Wilcox of New Hartford, Mrs. Elmer Hurlbert of Winchester, Mrs. Lawrence Hennessey of New Milford, Mrs. Earl Hall and Mrs. William Butts, both of Litchfield, and Mrs. John Hassig of Torrington; a sister, Mrs. Mary Bedard, of New Hartford; a step-sister, Mrs. John Beldsie of Bristol; one brother, John Parrott of New Hartford, 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Pine Meadow, with the Rev. Sidney Craig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the John J. Shea Funeral Home, Steele Road, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may make memorial contributions to St. John's Episcopal Church.

    WINCHESTER CENTER '97 Thelma Alice (Parrott) Hurlbut, 85, passed into eternal rest with her family by her side on Monday, June 12, 2007, at Litchfield Woods Health Center. She was the loving wife of 61 years to the late Elmer B. Hurlbut.

    Thelma was born July 14, 1921, in Pine Meadow, the daughter of the late James L. Parrott and Jesse (Caine) Parrott. She attended local schools and The Gilbert School, and in early years was an employee of Lander's Ferry, Clark and Colt Manufacturing. Later she worked in the school lunch program for the town of Winsted.

    Thelma enjoyed golfing, bowling and especially fishing with her son and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her apple pies and chocolate cake. Her love and loyalty to her family, friends and strength in the face of tragedy made her an inspiration to all who knew her.

    Thelma will be missed by her survivors, a daughter, Sharon L. Barbero and her husband, Gene, of Winchester Center; a son, Gary Hurlbut of Winsted; and grandchildren, Matthew Laukaitis and his wife, Maureen, and their two sons, Joseph and his wife, Lauren, and Patrick, Christina Niziolek and her husband, Mark, and their sons, Evan and Zachery, and Michael Barbero and his wife, Linda, and their daughter, Amy, and their granddaughter, Julia. Thelma is also survived by four sisters, Edna Bednarcyk and family of West Hartford, Irene Palozie and her family of Torrington, Shirley Butts and her husband, William, and family of Northfield, Gertrude Hassig and family of Litchfield; and three brothers, James Parrott Jr. and his family of Torrington, Robert Parrott and his family of New Hartford, and Lewis Parrott and his wife, Carol, and family of Hartland. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she cherished. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Harold, who was killed in World War II, and sisters, Elsie Wilcox and Alice Hennessey.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, at the Winchester Center Congregational Church. Burial will be held in Winchester Center Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St., Winsted, has care of arrangements.

    General Notes: ALICE C. HENNESSEY, 82, of Milford, died Feb. 27. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Hennessey.

    The daughter of the late James and Jessie Caine Parrott was born in 1922 in New Hartford. She was a resident of Milford for 52 years.

    Mrs. Hennessey is survived by two daughters, Sue Anne Pettis of West Haven, and Peggy Pollifrone of Naugatuck; three brothers, James, Robert and Louis Parrott; five sisters, Edna Bednarscyk, Thelma Hurlbutt, Irene Palozie, Gertrude Hassig and Shirley Butts. She also leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Parrott, and a sister, Elsie Wilcox.

    Arrangements were made by Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad St., Milford. Interment was in St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.

He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Delaney) Parrott who passed away in 1997. Born December 8, 1924 in New Hartford; the son of the late James and Jessie (Caine) Parrott. Jim served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a resident of the New Hartford area all his life. Jim retired as a Truck Driver and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family. He also loved music and singing. He leaves; two sons, Michael M. Parrott and his wife Lisa of New Hartford and James L. Parrott, III of Hartland; four grandchildren, Ben and Molly Parrott of New Hartford and Chris and Katie Parrott of Barkhamsted; a brother, Louis Parrott of Hartland; a sister, Gertrude Hassig of Litchfield; and several nieces and nephews.     Irene was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Pine Meadow, the daughter of the late James and Jessie (Caine) Parrott, one of 11 children. She was employed by The Torrington Co., Morris Division, for many years.

    General Notes: NEW HARTFORD - Robert L. Parrott, 82, of Canterbury Village, New Hartford died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Cherry Brook Healthcare Facility. He was the husband of the late Janice (Chandler) Parrott.

    Born October 3, 1928 in New Hartford, he was the son of the late James and Jessie (Caine) Parrott. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, honorably discharged during 1952. Bob was employed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and by Waring Products. He had a passion for singing, walking and playing horseshoes, and also loved the beach and his faithful feline companion Oscar.

    Bob`s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Cherry Brook Healthcare Facility for their many kindnesses.

    He is survived by a son Robert N. Parrott and his wife Diane of New Hartford; two daughters, Michelle Piekos and her husband Jeff of Winsted, Jennifer Matava and her husband John of Vernon; one sister, Gertrude Hassig of Torrington; two brothers, James Parrott of Torrington and Louis Parrott East Hartland; four grandchildren Matthew, Eric, Aubrey and Brianna.     NEW HARTFORD - Janice (Chandler) Parrott, 68, of Reservoir Road, died Wednesday, April 12, at Laurel Hill Health Care after a long illness. She was the wife of Robert L. Parrott of New Hartford.

    Mrs. Parrott was born March 1, 1938, in Putnam. She worked as an executive secretary at C. H. Nickerson & Company. She was a member of M.A.D.D., and a former communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Pine Meadow.

    Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Robert N. Parrott of New Hartford; two daughters, Michelle Piekos of Winsted, Jennifer Matava of Vernon; a sister, Diane Robertson of Winsted; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, Leslie and Lawrence Chandler, are deceased.

    LITCHFIELD - Shirley P. Butts passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to William L. Butts.

    She was born Dec. 18, 1934, in the Pine Meadow section of New Hartford to the late James and Jessie (Caine) Parrott. She was the 10th of 11 children.

    Along with her husband, she raised her family and operated the family farm for more than 50 years. Shirley also worked for the First National Bank of Litchfield and Litchfield Bancorp.

    In addition to her husband, Bill, Shirley is survived by her loving children, Laurie Rolli and her husband, Paul, of Bantam, Bill Butts Jr. and his wife, Mary Jane, of Arizona, and Nancy Butts and Tim McCaffrey of Torrington; four adoring grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Parsons, and Melissa and Ashley Butts; three brothers, James, Robert and Louis Parrot; three sisters, Edna Bednarczyk, Irene Palozie and Gertrude Hassig; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold, and three sisters, Elsie Wilcox, Thelma Hurlbut and Alice Hennesey.

    General Notes: PARROTT, LOUIS, SR. Louis Parrott, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Carol (Hammond) Parrott for 58 years. Born October 29, 1936 in Pine Meadow, in the family home, to James Parrott, Sr., and Jessie (Caine) Parrott. Lou worked for the CT State Highway Department for 37 years and when retiring he owned and operated a cleaning business. His passion was his family, modified stock car racing, coaching baseball with his boys and taking care of the horses. He loved telling jokes, going to the beach, playing horseshoes and card parties. Lou was the creator of "Lou's special spaghetti" sauce. He also enjoyed coaching the Senior Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He was a devoted husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two sons, Louis Parrott, Jr., and wife Johanna and Gerald Parrott and wife Laurie; granddaughters, Leah and Colleen; and mother-in-law, Juliette Hammond. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Pine Meadow at 11AM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Pine Meadow.
