    Notes: RAMROD THROUGH HEART
Remarkable Method of Suicide Chosen by Thomas Parrott.

Thomas Parrott, a prosperous farmer near Cordova, Talbot county, committed suicide on Sunday by shooting himself. Mr. Parrott had been despondent for sometime, and on Sunday remarked to his wife that he was feeling bad. He told her, however, to go to church. She went to church at Cordova. Shortly after she had left the house he picked up his double-barrel gun, loaded it, pat the iron ramrod down the barrel of the gun and tied it to the trigger. He then sat down and placed the muzzle of the gun over his heart and pulled the trigger. Neighbors heard the shot, hastened to Mr. Parrott's and found him dead and his clothing on fire.

Upon investigation they found that the ramrod had passed through his heart, out at his shoulder and up through the ceiling, tearing the plaster away. His death was instantaneous. He was about 49 years of age and leaves a wife, who was a Miss Holda Butler, of Cordova.

Notes: Man gives up in weekend hit-run death
GEORGETOWN - A Georgetown-area man surrendered to police Wednesday in the weekend hit-and-run death of a man whose body was found three days later in a drainage ditch. An autopsy found that Don Allen Parrott, 34, of Canvasback Lane in Sandhill Acres, north of Georgetown, died of injuries from being struck by a car, authorities said.

Parrott was walking home from work at the Perdue poultry plant about 9:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a passing car on Sussex 246, said Cpl. Preston A. Lewis, a state police spokesman. The impact threw Parrott's body into a 12-foot ditch, where a passer-by found him Monday afternoon, Lewis said. About 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Terry D. Tallen, 40, turned himself in to police at Troop 4. Tallent wa driving south on Sussex 246 Friday night, didn't see Parrott walking along the side of the road and hit him, Lewis said. He said Tallent did not stop or report the accident.

He was not immediately charged Wednesday, while police continued to investigate, Lewis said. Parrott's death was the only traffice fatality reported in Delaware during the Fourth of July weekend. He was the 52nd person killed in traffic accidents this year in the state, compared with 50 at the same time last year.
