Notes: Tom Parrott, a resident of Hawarden for the past 25 years, passed away last Wednesday afternoon at the Jacobs Nursing Home in Hawarden wehre he had been staying the last three months. He had not been in the best of health the last year but was up and about until Monday when he was taken ill.

Thomas J. Parrott was the oldest of 10 children of Thomas and ida Parrott, born Sept. 23, 1868 at Brainard, Minn. The major part of his life was spent in the viciniitis of Sioux City, Hawarden and Ireton. Survivors are two brothers and a sister, Frank J. Parrott of Ireton, Russel Parrott of Encino, Calif., and Mrs. Ben Wale of Sentry, Arkansas, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the Bernard funeral home Hawarden Saturday afternoon with burial in the Ireton cemetery. Rev. B.. Roy Brown of the Methodist church officiated.

Notes: Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Frank J. Parrott, from the Methodist church with the Rev. E.J. Plummer of Marcus officiating in the absence of the local pastor, the Rev. W.N. Baker, who is confined at Methodist hospital, Sioux City. Mr. Parrott, a resident of this community for 56 years passed away at the Hawarden hospital, Thursday evening, Dec. 20 after an illness of one week. Frank Julius Parrott, second son of Thomas J. and Ida Parrott, was born July 7, 1871 at Brainard, Minn.

His parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers preceded him in death. On Feb. 20, 1895 he was married to Adella Eddy who passed away Oct. 20, 1941. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Erlene Kading of Ireton and Mrs. Iva Roberts of Madison, Wis., also a granddaughter, Mary Jane Roberts of Madison and one brother, Russell of Canoga Park, Calif. and many nieces and nephews. Frank had enjoyed good health until three years when a heart ailment forced him from active work.

Before coming to Sioux county in 1893 he lived in the Sergeant Bluffs community, and was a Sioux cunty farmer since the time of his marriage, retiring after the death of his wife and making his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kading. He was a faithful attender of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Ireton cemetery.

Frank married Mary Adella "Della" Eddy on 20 Feb 1895. Mary was born on 19 May 1874 in Grant Co., Wisconsin and died on 20 Oct 1941 in Ireton, Sioux Co., Iowa, at age 67.

Notes: Mrs. F.J. Parrott, resident of this community for forty-six years, died at her home Thursday afternoon, October 30, after an illness of five weeks.

Mrs. Parrott had always been in apparent good health and had led an active life until the onset of her illness. Death was caused by cerebral thrombosis.

Mary Adella Eddy, the eldesst daughter of Mary and Thomas Eddy, was born in Grant County, Wisconsin, May 19, 1874, and passed away in her home on October 30, 1941, at 1:00 p.m., having reached the agae of 67 years, 5 months and 11 days.

Addella Eddy, with her parents and two younger sisters moved to Carroll, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood.

Previous to her marriage she assisted her unlce, W.F. McPherson, in the Post Office at Hawarden.

On February 20, 1895, she was united in marriage to Frank J. Parott. To this union two daughters were born; Mrs. Edward Kading of Ireton, and Mrs. Edwin Roberts of Madison, Wisconsin. Mrs. Parrott's entire married life was spent in and near Ireton.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and two daughters; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Morehouse and Mrs. S.L. Fusch of Madison, Wis.; one nephew, Sherman Lee Fusch and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Parrott was an active member of the Methodist church, the Women;s Society of Christian Service, and the order of the Eastern Star.

Notes: IRETON, Iowa - Erlene Eddy Kading, 90, of Ireton died Monday, Dec 31, 2001 at Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Ireton, with the Revs. Stuart Schreur and Kevin Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Kevin Schneider, at Porter Funeral in Ireton.

Erlene Eddy Kading was born Feb. 15, 1911, in Ireton, the daughter of Frank J. and Delly (Eddy) Parrott. She lived in Ireton her whole life, graduating from Ireton High School in 1928. She began teaching country school between Kuecher and Vander Hamm schools in Reading Township and Plymouth Township for 10 years.

Erlene married Edward John Kading of Ireton on Aug. 28, 1939, in Sioux City. They farmed in rural Ireton until 1979. Erlene returned to teaching in 1956 at Ireton Public School, where she taught for nearly 21 years. She had graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa and attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. Ed died Jan. 11, 1998.

Erlene was active in many community and church affairs. She was a member of Ireton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women adn West Sioux Retired Teachers. She was a charter member of the Ireton Historical Society and a member of the Order of the Eatern Star for more than 50 years. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Northwest Iowa Aging Commission.

Survivors include her niece and her husband, Mary Jane and Roger Bean of Cottage Grove, Wis.; grandnieces, Jody (Esser) Grossman of Cottage Grove and Lori Esser of Chicago; a grandnephew, Lt. Lee Esser of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two great grandnieces Sydney and Haley Grossman; and a sister-in-law, Elvira Kading of Ireton.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Erlene was also preceded in death by her parents a sister, F. Iva Roberts Stauffacher of Madison, Wis.

A memorial has been established in Erlene's name.

Soon after passing she was called on and offered a position in the agricultural department in the state capitol in Madison with a salary of $75 a month to start with. This is a promising position and politics have little or nothing to with these jobs and we are sure that Miss Iva will hold it and start climbing up the ladder to its topmost rung.
