This African-American family is unusual in that its ancestry precedes the Civil War by a couple of generations. The family started in Virginia, settled in Tennessee after the War, and then spread from there. Additional work is needed to reconstruct this family, which still has missing branches. |

.Notes: .1880 census lists his birth as 1793, but that is a bit far-feched given the dates of birth of his children. Henry married Nellie. Nellie was born in 1814 in North Carolina.
