This family's Patriarch appears in the Virgin Islands in the late 1800's. Today, his descendants are still on the island, though some are in New York and elsewhere. The family has remained very small. At this point, not all Parrotts on the Islands can be linked by the paper trail. The assumption is that they are from the same family, but that is not a foregone conclusion by any means. There is a lot more work that needs to be done to put the family tree together, but records are sparse.

  • 1. Christian Parrott .

    Christian married Eliza Joshua.

    Children from this marriage were:

+ 2 M    i. Ozias S. Parrott was born on 24 Dec 1887 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and died on 15 Mar 1968 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, at age 80.

+ 3 M    ii. Morales Parrott was born on 13 Jan 1888 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and died on 12 Feb 1944 in Manhattan, New York Co., New York, at age 56.

    Second Generation (Children)

    2. Ozias S. Parrott (Christian1) was born on 24 Dec 1887 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and died on 15 Mar 1968 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, at age 80.

.Notes: .In early 1980, the Government of the Virgin Islands (the "Government") instituted proceedings to condemn a number of parcels of land in Estate Nisky, St. Thomas. The record titleholder of two of the parcels was the recently deceased Ozias Parrott; the Government's petition therefore named as respondents the estate of Ozias Parrott and six of his twelve children.

    <>

1 The other five children named were Austin Parrott, Mallory Parrott, Harry Parrott, Dennis Parrott, and Morales Parrott. This appeal was filed in the names of Roy Parrott, the estate, and Austin, Mallory, Harry, Dennis, and Morales Parrott; the order appealed from, however, relates in terms only to Roy Parrott, and we therefore have designated him "appellant."

3 Following his receipt of the petition, Morales Parrott did notify the Government by letter of the existence of six other children of Ozias Parrott, all of whom resided in New York City. The Government subsequently amended its petition to include Lorna Reed, Reseda Williams, Theodore Edmead, Audrey Michael, Hilda Parrott, and Ina Parrott (who is apparently the widow of the twelfth child). The letter stated that the Parrott children living in New York all objected to the Government's estimating the land's value at $38,500 and asserted that the land was worth almost twice that amount. The letter further advised that "a letter is being sent to Roy Parrott this date to coordinate our objectives as stated, along with a request for follow-up action in this civil matter with your office to effect a defense for our demand of $66,276.00 as just compensation for our property."

    16. Ashford Claybourne Parrott (Austin3, Ozias S.2, Christian1) was born on 9 Jun 1944 in Virgin Islands and died on 17 Sep 2025 in Virgin Islands, at age 81.

.Notes: .It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one Ashford Claybourne Parrott, who departed this life on Sept. 17, 2025. Ashford, aka Uncle Ashy, was a man of extraordinary kindness, known for his generous heart, quick smile, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Ashford was born on June 9, 1944 to the late Austin Parrott and Bernice Jacobs Parrott. When he was three years of age, his mother was forced to relocate to New York City due to economic hardship. She found employment and was then able to send money home for her children's support. Therefore, Ashford was raised by his great aunt, Terecita Moolneaar "Tan Tan" (deceased) and eventually his aunt, Ursula Krigger "Aunt Sula" (deceased). In his elementary years, Ashford attended James Monroe School. He then attended Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS), where he joined the school's band. Ashford had a deep passion for music and played the saxophone. As a young man, he dreamt of going to Berkeley School of Music. His passion for music continued through his adulthood as he would often play the saxophone. The sound of his music could be heard from the neighboring homes of the family. Not only did Ashford love music, he was serious about continuing education opportunities. These opportunities led him to take correspondence classes to further his education. In his senior years, he continued his education at the University of the Virgin Islands Music Department where he studied Music Theory! Ashford could always be found with a magnifying glass reading musical note sheets or textbooks.

Ashford had a love for the natural environment. As a young adult, he wanted to pursue becoming a Park Ranger in St. John, but pushed that dream aside to be available for his aunts who raised him. Ashford then pursued employment with the Virgin Islands Department of Public Works, where he worked for 33 years. He loved cars and was brilliant when it came to vehicle maintenance. Ashford ensured that his loved ones maintained stable vehicles. He cared for others without hesitation; always putting the needs of those around him before his own. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering words of wisdom, or simply sharing laughter amongst loved ones. Ashford had a gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. His selfless nature and gentle spirit touched countless lives and left a legacy of compassion that will never be forgotten.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his family members, who cherished his steady presence and unconditional love. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we take comfort in knowing that his kindness and love will live on in each of us.

Forever in our hearts…Ashford Clayborne Parrott is survived by his son, Burt; daughter, Tykisha Herring; two grandchildren, and predeceased by one grandchild; uncle, Roy Parrott; siblings, Janice Krigger, Adrian Parrott (Ofelia), and Merrill Parrott; nephews, Allan Krigger and Merrill Almonte Parrott; nieces, Allene Krigger-Henry (David Henry), Annice Krigger, Wendy Pryor (Arnold Pryor), Dorothy Parrott, Michelle Parrott-Creque (Brock Creque), and Marlene Parrott-Gokool (Joshua Gokool); great nephews, Kris Lynch, Le'Quan Smith, Mehkai Smith, Merrill Jaden Parrott, Matthew Parrott (predeceased), Andrew Krigger, Preston Krigger, Dominic Krigger, Mekhi Nolan, Judah Gokool, and Brock J. Creque; great nieces, Mayasia-Le'Daeja Smith, Victory Gokool, Brielle Creque, Ta-Mia Krigger, Kayla Krigger-Atkins, Courtney Krigger, Brooke Krigger, Meili Chin, Adriana Pryor, Alexandra Pryor, Merrylis Contreas, and Mia Contreas; great-great nephews, Aa'Zir Smith and Aa'Zii Smith; great-great niece, Aliana Moise; special cousins, Alaric Krigger, Ashton Krigger, Halvor Martin, Carol Jacobs (whom he loved, for her kindness to him), Cordell Jacobs Sr., George Moolenaar, Karl Moolenaar, Ken Moolenaar, Cecilia Harrigan, Cleone Claxton, Lynell George and Pamela Davis. Ashford's other family members and friends are too numerous to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of his life that will be held on Oct. 17, 2025 at Nisky Moravian Church, with the viewing at 9 a.m. with the service following at 10 a.m. The burial will take place at Estate Neltjeberg.
