Several P*rr*tts appear in Barbados in its early days, and it is not known if all were related to each other. One of these lines, however, did use the traditional Perrot arms on his tomb.

ARMS.--- ...three pears out of a chief a demi-lion rampant; impaling, A fesse and in chief three roses [Oliver, 1915] He confused the parrot holding a pear in the crest with a raven holding a flower.

Photograph of the coat of arms on the tombstone of John Perratt, St. Phillip's cemetery, Barbados. The inscription reads, "Here lyes ye Body of Mr. John Perratt who departed this Life June the 7th 1729 aged 74 years Here also lyes the Body of Mrs Ann Perratt wife of ye abovesaid who departed this Life March ye 16th 1728 Aged 63 Years of thereabouts." Although the tombstone has weathered extensively over the past 280 years, the outline of the 3 pears is still visible. Photo by Jenny Randall, 2008.
