Notes: While a Henry Parrott did marry Mary Betson in Boston, there is nothing to say he was the s/o Bryant and Ruth Wadsworth Parrott. Furthermore, if was their son, he would have been a twin to Benjamin Parrott, but then again, there is nothing to document his birth year. So his parentage needs to remain an open question in the absence of better data.

========================= SAMUEL PARROTT TAKEN BY DEATH Prominent Atlantan Succumbs to Long Illness.
Mr. Parrott Had Been in Poor Health Since Last May, but His Condition Only Became Critical About Three Weeks Ago.
Samuel Fain Parrott, part owner of the Piedmont hotel, president of the Atlanta Compress Company and one of the most prominent railroad men in the South, died at the Elkin Sanitarium last night at 7:45 o'clock, after a lingering illness. Although Mr. Parrott had been in poor health since last May, he was not considered dangerously ill until about three weeks ago, when he had a relapse and steadily grew weaker.
An attack of typhoid fever which occurred in the early part of May was passed in safety, Mr. Parrott convalescing after five weeks and taking a trip to Hot Springs, Va., and to his brother in New York. When he returned in July he seemed to be in better health than usual and took an active part in his business and other interests. Late in July however, another attack of sickness showed that his constitution had not recovered from the fever and on the 29th of August he became so weak that it as considered advisable for him to enter a sanatarium. He gradually grew worse and never again arose from his bed.
Sketch of Mr. Parrott Samuel F. Parrott was born in Jefferson county, Tenn., on March 6, 1856. He was the son of Marcus J. Parrott. His mother was formerly Miss Cynthia Caldwell. He spent his early boyhood and went to school in Knoxville, Tenn. until the family, at the close of the Civil War, moved to a farm sixteen miles east of Knoxville. He remained on the farm until March of 1875 when he came to Atlanta to join his two brothers, George W. and Theodore F. Parrott, who were engaged in the cotton business under the firm name of Geo. W. Parrott & Brother.
The diligence from which he applied himself to learning the cotton business gained for him a wide experience which in 1880 enabled him to obtain a position with Inman, Swann & Co., of New York, as a buyer of cotton in the south Atlantic states.
From this position he went to Texas in the employ of Parrott & Robards of San Antonio, the senior member of this firm being a brother. He returned to Georgia to enter the employ of the Chattahoochee Brick Co. to take charge of the company's railroad construction and other work. After superintending the building of the Columbus Southern railroad he became general manager of the road in May of 1897.
Rise in Railroad World Rapid. From then on Mr. Parrott's rise in the railroad world was rapid. He left his position in Columbus Southern road to become chairman of the Southeastern Freight Association with headquarters in Atlanta. In May of 1905 he was elected vice-president and general manager of the Georgia Southern and Florida, with offices in Macon. After about three years in that service he returned to Atlanta to accept the presidency of the Atlanta Compress Company. In the early part of 1909 he was made co-receiver with H.M. Atkinson, of the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad. He had also been for several years receiver of the Macon and Birmingham. The three positions last mentioned he held up to the time of his death.
Mr. Parrott was one of the founders of the Piedmont Hotel, the others being his brother, George W. Parrott and Governor-elect Hoke Smith. Mr. Parrott was secretary and treasurer of this association and always took an active part in its affrairs.
Fond of books and a great reader, Mr. Parrott was prominent in literary circles. Soon after he came to Atlanta he became interested in the Young Men's Library Association, the nucleus of the present Carnegie library.
Member of the Capital City Club. He had been for years an active member of the Capital City Club and for some time a member of the its board of governors. He was chairman of the building committee for the new club house now being erected.
He is survived by four brothers, two sisters and a nephew. George W. Parrott of Atlanta, one of the owners of the Piedmont Hotel is one of the foremost capitalists of the South. Rev. John W. Parrott is a retired minister living in Loudon, Tenn. Marcus J. Parrott is a promiment cotton broker and a member of the New York Cotton Exchange. Alfred C. Parrott is a planter living at Straw Plains, Tenn. Thomas S. Parrott, a nephew of the deceased, owns and edits The Herald and Advertiser, of Newnan, Georgia. Notes: It is with a feeling of much sorrow that the The Times chronicles the death of Judge John M. Parrott, which sad event is occurred at his home, five miles north of this city, on Monday, March 23, 1893, in the eighty-second year of his age. He was buried in the faily cemetery, near Andrews' Landing, on the following day, under the auspices and ritual of the F.&A. Masons.
Judge Parrott settled in this county in 1835, having moved from Knoxville, Tenn. He represented this county in the only two constitutional conventions held by the state, and held the office of circuit court clerk fourteen years consecutively and served as County and Probate Judge during one term.
There never lived a purer or more honored citizen in this county, and to his last day on earth wore his crown of honor, love and forbearance meekly, submitting to his long suffering with resignation and courage to the lat. May the rising generation imitate his noble life, that in death they too may be prepared to go hence in peace.
Judge Parrott was an honored member of the Bar of Eastern Arkansas, and highly esteemed by all the courts. He was a member of Forrest City Lodge No. 198 F.&A.M., and was held in high esteem by all brothers, many of whom have expressed to the writer their sincere regret that they were deprived from attending the funeral by reason of court, the short notice of his burial and other matters over which they had no control. Several masons and others from this city, did attend, however and the service at the grave was conducted by Dr. H.P. Dooley and Gen. Geo. P. Taylor, in a sweetly impressive manner.
Deceased leaves a devoted wife and three married daughters to mourn. To them The Times extends its sincere sympathy and condolence.

============= Mrs. G.W. Parrott The funeral of Mrs. Lizzie A. Parrott, daughter of WD Fain and wife of GW Parrott, on Sunday was attended by a large congregation.
The sermon was preached by Rev. Joseph H. Martin, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, from the text: "Lord, make me to know mine end and the measure of my days what it is that I may know how frail I am." Psalms 9c 4v.
In his closing remarks, he said: This subject my hearers, has been brought home to us in a new, startling vivid and impressive manner by teh recent dispensation of Providence. A household has been shrouded in gloom and filled with sorrow by two bereavements of a most trying character within a short space of time. First, an infant ut a few weeks old is taken from its mother's affectionate embrace and its body laid in the tobm. Within less than three days the bereaved, afflicated and weeping mother expires and goes to join the congregation of the dead. How sudden, how unexpected this latter event in particular, and taken together how impressively the two occassions exhibit the reality, the power and awfulness of death, adn with that crushing force these calamities have fallen on the surviving husbaand and father of the little one, on the more aged father who lost both his daughter and grandson and on other members of the this sorrow stricken family. Like Job they are plunged into an abyss of grief and feel as if their calamity is greater than they can bear. But remember my friends that while he is a God of sovereignty the Lord is also a God of infinite wisdom and love and that all his dispensiations are joy and righteous, merciful and good. It is therefore the dictate of piety to trust in him to be resigned and submissive to his will, to acquiesce without a murmur in the face of his providence and to say: "The Lord gave and the Lord hasth taken away: blessed be the name of the Lord." Perhaps the most marked trait in the character of Mrs. Parrot was the strenght, fervor and intensity of her maternal affection. She loved her children with the greatest ardor and tenderness. No mother was more devoted to the welfare of her offspring and more completely wrapped up in them than she. The consequence was that she was deeply, painfully and powerfully affected by the loss of them. It was my fortune to be present a the burial of her first-born -little Willie-- a few years ago, and to have some knowlege of the depth and intensity of her sorrow produced by that event. Her life was bound up in the life of the child, and when died her heart strings were almost broken. And when her youngest and latest born - John Fain- was taken away the shock was too great for her strength to bear. She seemed to have a presentiment and foreboding of her own departure, for she declared that if that child were to die she could not get over it, but would certainly die also. He then alluded to her love of the Bible, and her Christian character. The cortege was large and imposing.

On October 25, 1969, Mrs. Parrott-Wood gave the go ahead to purchase the materials for the new library. Notes: Captain Thomas Sargent Parrott, beloved Newnan citizens [sic], prominent in business, fraternal, social and church circles in Newnan, died suddenly at his home on the Atlanta highway, after an acute heart attack, about 1:00 a. m. Monday morning.
Death came almost without warning, as he had retired a few hours before apparently in good health, having just returned from church, and seemed to be in his accustomed good spirits. He called Mrs. Parrott to his bedside shortly after midnight, complaining of severe pain, she hastily called physicians, but they were unable to effect any relief, and Mr. Parrott died a few minutes after they arrived.
Mr. Parrott, familiarly known as "Cap" to his friends, this appellation having been given him after he had become captain of the old Newnan Guards, was born in Atlanta 52 years ago, the son of Theodore F. Parrott and Sallie Corbet Sargent Parrott, and had lived in Newnan practically all his life. He was educated in the common schools of the city, and later attended and graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., in 1899, with the degrees of B. S. and L. L. B. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Coweta Lodge of Masons, was captain of the Newnan Guards for five years, and a deacon in the Newnan Presbyterian church, and was also superintendent of the Sunday-school. For several years he was associated with James E. Brown as one of the publishers of The Newnan Herald, he having been extremely gifted in a literary way, and many of his clever poems and other writings have served to amuse his friends and conferess [sic] in the Rotary Club and other organizations.
Mr. Parrott was an outstanding figure in the life of the city, being a director in the First National Bank, the Arnco Mills, and Newnan Building and Loan Association. He was one of the organizers of the Newnan Country Club, and gave much time and effort in the establishment of this institution. His activities were not confined to any one line of endeavor, and in every public movement he was always in the forefront of those laboring to bring success to the undertaking.
Mr. Parrott was one of the organizers of the Newnan Rotary Club, and took a keen and enthusiastic interest in Rotary work. The club paper, the Peptarian, was named by him, and for a year he was its first editor. He was also the "Sunshine Editor" of the club, and each week gave to the members some bit of brightness that fitted appropriately into the program of the day, or complimented some outstanding visitor. Prominently mentioned as a candidate for the office of governor for the Rotary district, it was regarded as almost certain that he would be named as governor of the Georgia district at its next election.
Affable and courteous, with an interest in men and things knew no bounds, he numbered among his friends hundreds of men and women all over the state. His home was the rendezvous for many of the leading writers in the state, both in editorial work, and in various lines of sport.
Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, his pastor Rev. J. E. Hannah, conducting the services assisted by Rev. C. M. Lipham, Dr. W. E. Stone, and Dr. C. W. Durden. Music was furnished by the Rotary Club's double quartette, and the Newnan Rotary Club formed the honorary escort to the grave. Magnificent floral tributes from Newnan and all parts of the state attested the love and esteem in which he was held. Interment was in the Oak Hill cemetery, where a brief interment service was given.
Mr. Parrott is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Carlton Parrott, and five children: Sarah, Nancy, Thomas, Jr., and Edgar. [Note: Not included although one of the five children was Ellen.]

Notes: Denies Friendship. The mother of Mrs. Cadle, Mrs. Parrott, denied that there had been any undue friendship between her daughter, Mrs. Cadle, and Yow
She was told of the police solution of the tragedy. Mrs. Parrott said that her daughter could not come to the 'phone as she was prostrated with grief.
She was told the alleged facts as brought out by the police. In reply she made a statement for her daughter.
Several days ago Yow telephoned the Parrott home, asking for Mrs. Cadle. She responded, but Mrs. Parrott said when she learned his identity she hung up the receiver.
A short time later Mrs. Parrott said Yow came to her home and rang the bell. He asked for Mrs. Cadle. She went to the door and returned, Mrs. Parrott said, saying that it was "Phil" and that she had refused to talk to him.
Later, possibly Thursday, the day before the tragedy, Mrs. Parrott said that Yow rang again. Mrs. Parrott answered. Mr. Cadle was at home then, and she called him to the 'phone. He proceeded, she said, to abuse Yow.
That was the last incident in the matter up until the time of the tragedy.
Mrs. Parrott said that she did not believe that her daugher had acted unwisely or without discretion, as she could not help being drawn into it. She said that she had done only what any other woman would have done under the circumstances. She said that she regretted that the position of her daughter had been brought into question.
No Cause for Tragedy. Mrs. Cadle, who was Miss Bess Parrott, daughter of L.E. Parrott, knows no cause for the tragedy. She is heartbroken. She said that he had never heard her husband speak of Yow. She said she could not conceive of any motive for the killing. She said that she had known Yow but knew posititively that her husband had not known Yow up to a few days ago.

Notes: JEALOUSY ASSIGNED AS CAUSE OF BLOODY MURDER AND SUICIDE
"Jealousy caused the killing of C.C. Cadle and the suicide of Philip R. Yow Friday afternoon in the lobby of the Hotel Atkin. It followed a telephone warning message sent by Cadle's wife to Yow, telling him that her husband had secured a revolver and had threatened his life. Evidence of a friendship between Yow and Mrs. Cadle has been unearthed."
This statement was made by the police at noon Saturday after an extended investigation. Upon this alleged solution the case been dropped. An Atlanta undertaker arrived in the cityat noon and will take the remains of Yow back to Atlanta where they will be interred. The relatives of Cadle have not yet arrived.
The police unearthed what is believed to be the true story of the dual tragedy. They ascertained that Mrs. Cadle had known Yow previous to her marriage to Cadle. They next unearthed their friendship since their marriage, it is said. It was ascertained, asserted officers, that Yow sent a message to Mrs. Cadle, asking her for an appointment with him. Mrs. L.E. Parrott, mother of Mrs. Cadle intercepted the message, the police say, and notified Cadle of the attempted clandestine meeting, which was proposed in the message.
Cadle, Friday morning telephoned Yow and proceeded, it is claimed to abuse Yow. Later Cadle is said to have armed himself in the presence of his wife, and to have stated to her that he intended to kill Yow.
Thus warned of her husband's intentions, it is believed Mrs. Cadle 'phoned Yow and warned him of her husband's plans.
The killing followed. They police have ascertained that Yow met Mrs. Cadle sine her marriage to Cadle, it is said. <snip>

If any other person wants to try to set a record for bringing joy and happiness to their family, they are going to have to clear a really high bar that was set by Chuck Parrott. Chuck and his family were long-time members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and later joined Christ the King Lutheran Church where they were members for over 25 years.
