Notes: Posted on Find a Grave 198852277 by Ridout on 4 May 1919:
Cemetery Sexton listing reads: Wife of Bud Ellison, along with the above death date. There is no tombstone. Further research indicates this entry is probably Martha Green Ridout Wesson Parrott Ellison, daughter of John Ridout and his first wife, Lucy Williams. The death date for Martha is currently questionable. Family records indicate a death date of 8 Nov 1898. More research is needed to clarify this entry. Martha first married 22 Sep 1855 in Shelby Co., TN to Sterling Lafayette Wesson. Sterling died at Fort Pillow, TN 19 Apr 1862 just a few months after entering the Confederate forces. My notes indicate he was captured by U.S. forces across the river from Fort Pillow, TN, - in New Madrid, MO, the day before he died. Martha's second marriage was to John F. Parrott on 24 Jul 1864 in White Co., AR. John died 15 Sep 1876. Martha then married W.D. "Bud" Ellison 15 Sep 1877 in Prairie Co., AR. Indications are that Bud survived his wife, possibly. Martha had two Wesson children: Lucy Ann Wesson Thomas and William L. Wesson; and later, three Parrott children: Sarah A., Ella, and John Henry. There are believed to be no children for Martha, with Ellison. Martha's estate was probated in Prairie Co., AR 1899. She appeared to be a frugal farmer. Most of her estate was left to a Whitlock female. At this point, we cannot link her to Martha, through a family connection. Martha is buried next to her son, William L. Wesson.

The Norman Transcript, January 11, 2017
========== Elizabeth M. Parrott, 94, of Norman, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10. Mrs. Parrott was born October 5, 1922, in Cherry Valley, AR, to Jacob Dudley Maddox and Lena Elizabeth (Harvey) Maddox. She attended Ouachita Baptist University, graduating with a double major in English and History. She fell in love with her biology lab partner and married John Henry Parrott, on August 27, 1943, in Harrisburg, AR. Mrs. Parrott worked as a secretary while John began his training in the ministry at Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY.
As their family began to grow, her primary task became raising their four children. Mrs. Parrott gracefully filled the role of pastor's wife as Dr. Parrott served in ministry in Oolitic, IN, Las Cruces, NM, Palestine, TX, and Roswell, NM. She actively participated in youth and adult organizations in each congregation, in addition to hosting countless dinners, receptions, and socials in their home. During these busy years with children at home and beginning college, Mrs. Parrott taught middle school English, history, and Bible in New Mexico from 1967-1973. When they moved to California, she taught English to international students at a local community college and wrote a sixth grade textbook for use in Christian schools.
In 1987, Dr. and Mrs. Parrott retired from 50 years in the ministry to Norman where they became active members of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Parrott taught English classes to the wives of international students at OU and enjoyed painting New Mexico and Arkansas landscapes.
In 1995, Mrs. Parrott wrote in her memoirs, "I am convinced that relationships are the keys to a fulfilling and happy life. First in importance is one's relationship to God. This faith has sustained me through good times and bad, and gives me hope for whatever the future holds in this life and in the life to come. My life is blessed in my marriage…in relationships with our children…and has added dimension because of our friendships. Any other accomplishments or personal honors along the way added extra flourishes, but the abiding fulfillment and joy has come because of these relationships. They have blessed my life beyond my power to describe."
Mrs. Parrott was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Jean Maddox Lynch, son-in-law Everett Hullum, Jr. and grandson Benjamin Riddles, III. Mrs. Parrott is survived by her four children, Rebecca Hullum of Princeville, HI, Nancy Smith and her husband Dwight of Chickasha, John D. In the intervening years, there was never a wasted moment as Barbara drew upon her boundless energy to pack every moment of her life with the things she was most passionate about \endash wine (she enjoyed a 23-year association with the Houston Wine Merchant), travel, anything associated with UH, the Houston sports scene, and the performing arts. Barbara loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Born and raised in Houston, Barbara grew up in Spring Branch. She also served on the Board of the UH graduate School of Social Work Alumni Association for eleven years and was currently serving as Treasurer. Barbara's passion for area theater led to her position as President for Theater LaB Houston. In addition, she was Secretary for the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Board and a Houston Proud Volunteer where she served in numerous leadership positions and met her soul mate and the love of her life, Mike McGinity.
Barbara's enthusiastic support for the University of Houston was manifested in her status as a Life Member of the UH Alumni Association. A Cougar Pride Member since 1987, Barbara was a season ticket holder of UH football, basketball, baseball and theater events. She was also a Member of the 1927 Society and 46er's. Our beloved Don passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family and friends. This special man was born in Minco, OK and moved to Oakland, CA at the age of 6. He graduated from Oakland Tech and Santa Rosa JC where he excelled as a pitcher and outstanding baseball player. He joined the Army where a car accident rendered him a paraplegic at the age of 21.With much effort and determination, he graduated from San Francisco State and changed his focus from becoming a pro baseball player to an outstanding elementary school teacher. He taught 28 years at Woodside Elementary in Concord, CA. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
Don retained a lifetime interest in sports. He coached, competed in wheelchair basketball, swimming, track, and bowling. Don and his wife, Bunny, traveled all over the world with wheelchair basketball teams. Although, he was limited by his disability he never complained. Don collected friends wherever he went. No one was a stranger for long. His happy heart was remarkably loving, generous, and courageous. He and Bunny delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years and have always been active in their church. Don was generous in every way with time and talents. He helped other paralyzed vets, neighbors, friends, and never was too busy to listen and care.
Family was the most important thing in Don's life. He supported all of his children and grandchildren in so many ways. He loved to take them fishing, shopping, help them with school projects, or just listen to their adventures. Nothing in their lives was unimportant to Dad/Grandpa. Don is survived by his devoted wife, Bunny, of 28 years and his children, Jim (Caroline) Parrott, Douglas (Mary) Parrott, Tia Parrott, and Francoise Baecker; children through marriage, Erin (Bill) Cundiff, Shaun (Wendy) Ryan, Colleen (Steve) Sullivan, Kevin (Roxana) Ryan, and Molly (Steve) York; and 18 grandchildren.
