Fire Death Cause
Faulty electrical wiring beneath the floor of the apartment of Miss Shirley Parrott, 26, probably caused her death by smoke inhalation early yesterday, Fire Department officials said.
Miss Parrott, of Apt. B-12 Tennessee Ridge Apartments, 860 Murfreesboro Road, was dead at the scene of the 4:30 a.m. fire, said Ray Aldridge, arson investigator for the Metro Fire Department.
"IT APPEARS she attempted to get out of her bedroom window but she got nauseous and made a break for the front door but only made it to the bedroom doorway before collapsing," Aldridge said.
Aldridge said the fire started between the ceiling of the basement and the living room floor of Miss Parrott's apartment.
"The wiring looks like electrical wiring would look in a 20-year-old building,"Aldridge said of the apartments which used to be known as the Executive House apartments. No one else was injured in the blaze, according to fire officials
Funeral services for Miss Parrott will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pettus, Owen & Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Harpeth Hills Cemetery.

He is survived by two sisters, Dianne Clausing & husband Ron of Bastrop, Wanda Harrison & husband Ronnie of Bastrop; brother, Johnny Parrott of Bowling Green, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was born on November 15, 1936, to the late Gertha Bell Hughes Parrott and Walter Earl Parrott of Bastrop, Louisiana.
Mr. Parrott was preceded in death by two sisters, Earlean Parrott Bolin and Bebe Parrott Bell; his son, Randy Jack Adams; and his great granddaughter, Ashleigh Grantham.
